If you’re wondering what to buy in Georgia, from wine and traditional sweets to handmade crafts, here are a few of our favourite souvenirs — and places to find them in Tbilisi.
Wine from a Georgian winery
Wine is one of the loveliest things to bring home from Georgia — especially when it is a bottle from a winery you visited during your trip. The best choice depends on what you enjoy, so if you like:
- 🍷 a semi-sweet white, try Tvishi
- 🍷 a semi-sweet red, choose Kindzmarauli or Khvanchkara
- 🍷 a dry white, look for Tsinandali or Rkatsiteli
- 🍷 a dry red, go for Saperavi
- 🍷 Georgia’s traditional amber wine, try qvevri-made Kisi or Rkatsiteli
One of our favourite wines, widely available in shops, is Château Mukhrani. But the most memorable bottle may simply be one you discover at a small family winery during your trip.
If you would like to explore beyond the best-known names, try Tsolikouri and Tsitska from western Georgia, aromatic Mtsvane, fuller-bodied Krakhuna, or crisp Chinuri. Less familiar abroad, these wines offer another side of Georgia’s wine culture.
For something completely unexpected, look for Shade Blue by George Grey Winery — a vivid blue, sweet wine-based drink made from Rkatsiteli. It is not a traditional Georgian wine style, but it makes a fun and unusual gift.
A traditional drinking horn
Alongside a bottle of wine, consider bringing home a kantsi — a traditional Georgian drinking horn. It is sometimes used for celebratory toasts at a supra. A real horn has no flat base, so it is traditionally emptied before being put down. You can find both functional horns and small decorative versions in souvenir shops around Tbilisi.
Churchkhela and spices
Churchkhela, dried fruit and fragrant spice blends are easy, delicious gifts to share. For a taste of Georgian cooking at home, look for khmeli suneli, adjika and Svanetian salt. For delicious sugar-free churchkhela, we recommend Chirifruit on level −1 of Galleria Tbilisi.
Blue tablecloths and textiles
Traditional blue printed tablecloths, known as supras, make beautiful, practical souvenirs. One of our favourite stores is BlueTabla. Alongside tablecloths, you can find home accessories, tableware, scarves, jewellery and other everyday pieces inspired by Georgian art and traditions.
Socks :)
A simple, useful gift that is easy to pack. Our favourite is AlterSocks, which makes colourful, well-made socks with Georgian-inspired designs. You can find them on the first floor of Galleria Tbilisi.
Enamel jewellery
Georgian cloisonné enamel is one of the country’s most distinctive crafts. Small earrings, pendants or brooches are easy to pack and feel far more personal than a standard souvenir. You can find enamel jewellery in several small shops in the underground passage at Liberty Square.
Tea
For tea-loving friends, Gurieli is an easy choice: it is a popular Georgian brand found in most supermarkets. For something more unusual, look for Stumari Wine Tea. It is an alcohol-free drink made from Saperavi wine, grape skins and seeds — a small, unusual gift from Georgia that we are curious to try ourselves.
Georgian lamps and unique magnets
If you have room in your suitcase and love Georgian architecture, visit Lampino, a small local shop at 30 Anton Purtseladze Street. It makes handmade lamps inspired by Georgian houses. If you are travelling light, their cosy magnets are a lovely alternative — and a small reminder of your journey through Georgia.
